The Innovative Planner

Have a complex situation - moving pieces that don’t seem to fit together, family & work issues that just don’t give you the time to figure it all out? Bring your puzzle pieces and worry to Tami. Her passion is finding creative solutions to help you do the things that matter most to you. She’ll help you create, implement, and track a plan that’ll set your mind at ease and truly simplify your financial life. Helping clients toward the realization of their goals and to implement their legacy are the reasons she’s “in the business”.

Tami actively listens to each story, systematically analyzes the facts and emotions, and presents ideas in a logical and straight forward manner.  You’ll benefit from her creative solutions, which include developing realistic steps and an intentional path to your future.

Tami has been in the industry since 2003 when she joined her father’s firm.  She went on to earn accreditation as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM practitioner *and CERTIFIED PRIVATE WEALTH ADVISOR professional ®**and holds Series 7, 63, 24, 53 and life and long term care insurance licenses.

Working with her dad nurtured Tami’s own entrepreneurial drive. She craved the challenge and reward of building her own business, just as her father and so many of her clients had, so she opened her own office in 2014. Her experience opening and operating Sytsma Wealth Strategies has given her even greater insight into the unique needs of her small-business clients.

Off the clock:

You’ll find Tami spending time with her husband and children, Jason and Otto & Eliza – who are occasionally “employed” at the office when we have some stamping to do or too many chocolates on site.  Her other loves include gardening, travel, and being involved in the local food movement.

First financial lesson I learned:

I’m not sure this is my first, but it is likely the most memorable. My parents always urged my young siblings and me to give our piggy-bank money to a charity of our choice during the holiday season. This directly impacted the way I feel about giving today – and the way I’m raising my own children.

Best financial lesson I learned:

Experiencing the market downturn in 2008 and 2009, early in my career, taught me that a conservative approach to business will help weather downturns. It also impressed upon me the value of strong client relationships and well constructed plans.

My financial goal:

To be able to make a difference philanthropically.

**WHY IS A CPWA® IMPORTANT?

High-net-worth individuals have unique needs that can’t be properly addressed by an advisor with a basic financial planning background. The CERTIFIED PRIVATE WEALTH ADVISOR® certification program is an advanced credential created specifically for wealth managers who work with these clients.  The breadth of the material to learn in order to earn this credential is broad but also incredibly detailed.  The program focuses on the life cycle of wealth, including accumulation, preservation and distribution.  It teaches ways to identify and analyze the unique challenges high-net-worth individuals face and then how to develop specific strategies to address those challenges (i.e. how to minimize taxes, how to monetize and protect assets, how to maximize growth and how best to transfer wealth.)

The course included topics like behavioral finance, charitable and estate planning, planning for closely held business owners, planning for executives, portfolio management, retirement planning, risk management, and tax planning.

If you’re interested in learning more about the CERTIFIED PRIVATE WEALTH ADVISOR® certification, you can check the link below or ask me about it.

Investment Management Consultants Association® (IMCA®) is the owner of the certification marks “CPWA®” and “Certified Private Wealth Advisor®”. Use of the CPWA® or Certified Private Wealth Advisor® signifies that the user has successfully completed the IMCA’s initial and ongoing credentialing requirements for wealth advisors.
